You can import a portfolio into Kwanti from a CSV file, which you can create in Excel or export from most financial applications. Kwanti reads the symbols and the shares, weights, or values from the file and creates the portfolio.
What you need
A CSV (comma-separated values) file with one row per position. The file needs:
- A column of symbols (tickers)
- A column of shares, weights, or values, if you want to set position sizes
The file can contain other columns. Kwanti ignores any column you don’t designate during import.
Limits
- A portfolio can hold up to 250 positions. Positions beyond 250 are excluded from the import.
- The header row, if present, is excluded.
- Rows with the same ticker are merged into one position.
Importing the portfolio
Step 1: Save your spreadsheet as a CSV file
- In Excel, click Save As.
- Under Save as type, select CSV.
Note: Your version of Excel may look slightly different.
Step 2: Upload the file
- In Kwanti, click Import, then Portfolio.
- Upload the CSV file.
Step 3: Designate the columns
- Select the column that contains the symbols.
- If your file includes shares or weights, select that column.
Kwanti imports only the two columns you designate.
Step 4: Review and import
- Review the positions. Kwanti shows the final number of lines to be imported, after excluding the header row and any positions over the 250 limit, and merging duplicate tickers.
- Click Import.
- Name the portfolio.
