If an asset isn’t in Kwanti’s database, you can import its history from a CSV file of historical prices or returns. Once imported, you can use the asset in any of your portfolios.
What you can import
You can import either:
- A list of historical prices
- A list of historical returns
Use daily prices or returns if they’re available. Monthly prices or returns also work.
Important: Mixing monthly-priced assets with daily-priced assets in a portfolio can produce misleading performance data for periods that don’t start or end on a month boundary.
File format
The file needs two columns:
- First column: the date. Several date formats are accepted.
- Second column: the returns or prices.
| Monthly | Monthly | Daily |
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
Importing an asset
- Click Import, then Asset.
- Upload the CSV file with the asset’s prices or returns.
- Choose a ticker symbol for the asset.
Note: Start your ticker with @ (for example, @ASSET1). This makes your uploaded assets easy to manage and keeps them distinct from symbols in Kwanti’s database.
Viewing or deleting imported assets
- Click Import, then Asset.
- Click Show previously uploaded assets at the bottom of the window.
- In the list of your uploaded assets, click an asset to view its details, or click the delete icon on its right to delete it.
